Zen Retreat with Hyon Gak Sunim

05. February 2015

Zen Master Hyon Gak Sunim will lead a Zen Retreat from May 30th to 31st, 2015 in Barbing near Regensburg in Germany.

What is our life? Why we live or die? What am I?

Most human beings do not look into this questions. But it is every person's obligation, using this human body, to look inside. Sitting a retreat is a chance to look deply into the natue of mind. It is an opportunity to gain clarity and compassion to experience the completely free and clear nature of our original True Self. Sitting a retreat is using a few short hours, in the midst of our busy lives, to discover the boundless clarity and wisdom which lie within.

Woodcarving Master Kil-Yang Huh Finished Buddhas for Prajna Galleries

25. January 2013

Master Kil-Yang Huh has finalized 6 Buddha sculptures for Prajna Galleries. All sculptures are carved from one piece of wood. It took him more than 3 months to finalize one sculpture.

We are always so much looking forward to see the finalized Buddha, as each finished art object is a big surprise. Although their design seems to be similar (there are 35 characteristics a Buddha must have), each Buddha looks and feels different. The wood, the eyes, the smile, etc. are never the same.

Selecting Woods for his Buddha Sculptures

02.Dezember 2012

Twice per year Master Kil-Yang Huh goes and buys woods for his great wooden sculptures. Selecting the correct wood is very important. Master Huh considers a tree to be something that breathes and holds a soul within and coming across a well-grown tree which is chosen to be reborn as the body of Buddha is a tremendous blessing.
