Interpretation

This picture shows Bohyon Bosal (bodhisattva of power) riding an elephant talking to two Musu Bosals (bodhisattva of wisdom).

Boyon Bosal is common in China and Japan, but relatively rare in Korean Buddhist paintings. Paintings of Bohyon Bosal are less common as that of Kwan Seum Bosal (bodhisattva of compassion) or Jijang Bosal (bodhisattva of medicine).
